ALL OUR RIGHTEOUSNESSES ARE LIKE FILTHY RAGS!

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” (Isaiah 64:6 KJV)
A young man who has a Christian upbringing was talking to me. He asked me some questions about the endtime, and I answered him. In a bid to exonerate himself from the impending calamity that must befall the ungodly in the end, he said to me: “I think I’m okay, or what do you think? See, I’m a nice person. I don’t do bad to people.” He looked at me steadily, wanting me to validate his thoughts.
I told him that it’s not for me to judge. But the Bible says, we have to believe in our hearts unto righteousness and confess with our mouths unto salvation. Anyone who has not accepted Jesus as his LORD and Saviour; believed in His finished work on the cross, no matter the upbringing, has no righteousness to bring forth before God.

“That is why God gave us Jesus, who alone possesses the requirement to fulfil God’s demand. So, if God will accept us and we will be sure of eternal rest, we must put on the righteousness that can only be found in Jesus.”
A man of God shared his experience in relation to this. One day, his wife was doing some washing. According to him, when the wife was done, the clothes looked white and clean in the house. But when she took the clothes and put them outside on the line, they could not believe what they saw! The clothes appeared soiled and dirty, in contrast to the fresh-fallen snow outside.
Beloved, that is the situation of every man who has not accepted Jesus as LORD and Saviour. Don’t be deceived. Your upbringing notwithstanding, put on the righteousness of Jesus today. When you do, you save yourself from the impending calamity that must befall the ungodly, because ALL OUR RIGHTEOUSNESSES ARE LIKE FILTHY RAGS.
