HIS MERCY IS EVERLASTING!
AUGUST
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;" (Psalm 103:17 KJV)
This psalm is one of those written by David. It is regarded as a song of praise focusing on Thanksgiving for personal benefits, such as:
· Thanks for forgiveness and inward healing.
· Thanks for redemption and glory.
· Thanks for intermediate blessings.
But everything is centred on MERCY. According to that verse, "The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting." The Hebrew word, חסד was transliterated chesed, which signifies more particularly the exuberant goodness of God. The word ‘Exuberant’ means, being full of energy, excitement, and extreme happiness. That is, the goodness of GOD loaded with energy, excitement, and extreme happiness. Imagine that! But you need to realize something; the description is not what GOD is struggling to achieve; it is an attribute of His nature. Hallelujah!
A man of our century may have caught that revelation when he wrote his poem. Thomas O. Chisholm was a former Kentucky school teacher and Methodist minister. He lived a quiet life and struggled a lot financially and health-wise. In 1923, he wrote a personal poem. His poem was born out of daily, quiet experiences of God's sustaining grace. The poem was based on Lamentation 3:22-23. When he was done with his poem, he mailed it to his friend William M. Runyan who was a musician, working with the Moody Bible Institute. Runyan loved the words of the poem and wrote the tune for it.
This became a much-loved hymn at the Moody Bible Institute. In the 1950s, George Beverly Shea introduced the hymn during the international Billy Graham Crusades and from then, the song received unprecedented global acceptance. The hymn in question is 'Great Is Thy Faithfulness.' This hymn is one of the most popular hymns sung in modern day Church.
Beloved, take a deep breath and consider the personal benefits you have enjoyed from your Maker. It is not a function of any factor you may think of than HIS MERCY! So, without hesitation, let the people say, HIS MERCY IS EVERLASTING!
Experiencing the TRUE GOD.
