THE NATIVITY STORY

Performed by the Children's department

NARATOR: A long time ago, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to Nazareth, a town in Galilee to a virgin named Mary who was engaged to be married to Joseph from the family of David. (background music : LONG TIME AGO IN BETHLEHEM)

ANGEL: Greetings! The Lord has blessed you and is with you. Don't be afraid, Mary; God has shown you, his grace. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.

MARY: How will this happen since I am a virgin?

ANGEL: "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the most high will cover you. For this reason, the baby will be holy and will be called the Son of God

MARY: "I am the servant of the Lord. Let this happen to me as you say!"

NARATOR: Afterwards and in the same manner, the angel also visited Joseph

ANGEL: "Joseph, son of David, "do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.

JOSEPH: surely the Lord has spoken, and I must do as commanded

NARATOR: Joseph woke up and pondered on the words of the angel but did as the angel instructed.

NARATOR: In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. And everyone went to their own town to register. So, Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

JOSEPH & MARY: (walking to Bethlehem while the narration is going on)

The Shepherds and the Angels

NARATOR: While the shepherd keep watch over their flocks at night, an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

ANGEL: *Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

NARATOR: Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests."

SHEPHERD 1: Let's go to Bethlehem, we have to see this thing that has taken place which the lord has made known to us

SHEHERD 2&3: Yes! Let's go

NARATOR: The three shepherds went to the manger to worship the newborn king singing HOSSANA IN THE HIGHEST!!!
