PRAISE HIM!
FEBRUARY
“You who fear the Lord, praise him! All you offspring of Jacob, glorify him, and stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel!” (Psalm 22:23 ESV)
The above-quoted Bible verse is from one of the Psalms of King David. The first verse of this chapter states, "My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?" While the opening verse sounds like expressing a concern, in verse 22, he stated that he would declare the Name of God unto his brethren, and amid the congregation he would praise Him. That, I think is profound! Despite his initial expression, David chose not to praise God only in secret but to declare His goodness openly.
That tells you something; it may not be out of place to express a concern; it may not be wrong to ask God why things are not moving in the right direction, but no matter your concern; no matter the number of questions you may have, you cannot afford to lose sight of GOD’s goodness. And you should not allow the devil to hijack the praise of your Maker and fill your heart with ingratitude.
I recently stumbled on a short video clip by a young lady, who is a psychiatrist. She mentioned that ‘gratitude shifts your attention from what you don’t have to what you already have.’ In like manner, ingratitude shifts your attention from what you already have, to what you don't have.
David said, "You who fear the Lord, praise Him." The allusion here is, your act of praising GOD is a function of your reverential fear of Him. In other words, one evidence to show that you fear God is to praise Him, not only in secret but also in the congregation of the saints. Alleluia!
Beloved, I admonish you to shun all ungodly concepts that want you to trivialise the praise of God. If you don't see the reasons to praise Him despite all He has done, then, how do you prove that you fear Him? As you push against all odds and praise Him today, I see lines fall in pleasant places with you. And I see you have mighty testimonies that will trigger your praise to Him throughout the month of February and beyond in Jesus' Name. AMEN.
