“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” (John 15:4 KJV)

King George V wrote on the flyleaf of the Bible of a friend, “The secret of happiness is not to do what you like to do, but to learn to like what you have to do.” You may prefer to pursue a course or choose an activity above others; what is needful according to His will should be top of your priority and adhere to.

According to Evangelist Billy Graham, “Pots of gold are never found at the end of the rainbow, as we used to think when we were children; gold is mined from the ground or panned laboriously from a mountain stream.” True to his statement, no true treasure is found on the surface; it will require some diligent and consistent efforts invested, to bring it to the final state of its glory.

But do such required efforts depend on the amount of personal energy exerted by us? Too often, we presume the straightforward answer is, ‘Yes’. We believe that by relying on our efforts, we can always make things happen. We can serve God without difficulty in our own strength; we can set up a business venture and succeed with ease in our own strength; we can train our children by simply following the rules outlined by the experts, disregarding divine instruction; we can stay healthy by simply maintaining healthy lifestyle, and so on.

Jesus’ statement in John 15 verse 4 made it clear that we are far from reality. It states: “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”

Another way to explain that is, live in me, and I will live in you. It is impossible for a branch to produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. So, you cannot produce any fruit unless you stay connected to me.

Beloved, as much as we need to be hardworking as God does not condone idleness, we must stay connected to our source of enablement, who is GOD! At this season of HELP, may we be rightly positioned to receive a timely help from the true HELP of the helpless in Jesus’ Name. So, STAY CONNECTED!

Experiencing the TRUE GOD.
