“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection….” (Phi 3:10 KJV)

If there is a cry that should be persistent with Christians, it is the cry of, “That I May Know Him.” Why? The majority of Christians of this age think they know everything about God, but it is sad to state that they have very shallow knowledge of GOD who is supposed to be their Father. Yet they are nonchalant about it because the insight is not there! The key reason why they lack the true knowledge of God is because they do not search for Him. And when they do, they do not seek for Him with all their hearts.

Jeremiah 29:13 says, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (KJV) Three layers of activity emerge here:

1. First Layer - ‘You shall seek me.” Jesus stated that he that seeks, finds. The understanding is, ‘You don’t seek, you don’t find.’

2. Second Layer - ‘Find me.’ Now, finding is premised on the primary activity of seeking. That means, anyone who thinks he will find God or thinks he has found God without seeking Him may be disillusioned.

3. Third Layer - ‘When ye shall search for me with all your heart.’ That is conditional. It means the first two layers will yield no positive results when they are not done wholeheartedly.

But even when we search for God wholeheartedly, can we find Him from the wrong source? Part of the sources where people tend to search for God is from a third party. People learn about God through different agencies of the church, the Sunday school, the youth activities, the worship services and social media. As helpful as this may probably be, none of the sources will replace your Bible. It is one thing to be introduced to a person, but another thing to know him personally. Thus, the simple explanation of the verse is, "You can easily have access to God when you search for Him from the right source, and with your whole heart.”

Beloved, except God is revealed to us through personal experience, we can never know Him. Most people claim to know about God, but that is quite different from knowing God. So, irrespective of the height you may have attained, let your daily heart-cry be, THAT I MAY KNOW HIM! Shalom!
