THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS

“And he said, .... Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s.’” (2Chronicles 20:15 ESV)
Unknown to him, Jehoshaphat king of Judah made a marriage alliance with Ahab, the king of Israel. This was an unholy deal. Jehoshaphat the king was supposed to be killed in battle against the Syrians. But he escaped death by the skin of his teeth. Only God saved him.
Thank God he escaped this miraculously. Later the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the Meunites came to wage war against him. This conglomerate armies were notorious. Anyone would want to avoid them. Unfortunately, they have come to oppress Jehoshaphat and his army and there was no way to take avoiding action but to confront. But were they equipped enough to confront them?
Surprisingly, God told him to be rest assured that He was taking the battle over from him. Jehoshaphat was told, “This is God’s fight, not yours. Don’t be frightened or terrified by this large crowd. The battle isn’t yours. It’s God’s.” What a reassuring message!
Taking a cue from the experience of Jehoshaphat, you wonder why that terrifying circumstance did not end your life?! It is because your Maker is saying, “the battle is not yours.” You wonder why the enemy has not prevailed over you and your household?! It is because your Maker is saying, “the battle is not yours.” You wonder why when men are cast down, you are declaring there is lifting up?! It is because your Maker is saying, “the battle is not yours.” You wonder why you must fulfil destiny despite the challenges around you? It is because your Maker is saying “the battle is not yours.”
Beloved, without mincing words, your Maker’s message is crystal clear. What He is telling me and you today is, “Praise Me, Thank Me and Worship Me like never before because the battle is not yours.” Shalom.
