THE STRENGTH BEHIND GREAT MEN

“She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband praises her as well.” (Pro 31:27-28, BSB)

We are familiar with many stories in the Bible about kings, prophets, and great men who were used mightily by God. Their courage, leadership, and faith have shaped history and continue to inspire believers today.

However, it is important to remember that behind many of these great men were women whose faith, sacrifice, and strength helped shape their lives and destinies.

Women like Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, whose obedience to God made her the vessel through which the Saviour came into the world.

Women like Hannah, the mother of Samuel, whose heartfelt prayers brought forth a prophet who would guide the nation of Israel. And women like Jochebed, the mother of Moses, whose courage and faith preserved the life of the one who would later lead God’s people to freedom.

There is a popular saying that goes, “Behind every successful man is a good woman.” In many ways, this reflects a truth we see throughout Scripture and even in our lives today.

This Sunday, as we celebrate Mother’s Day, we take time to honour and appreciate the mothers amongst us; women whose love, prayers, guidance, and sacrifices continue to shape families, communities, and generations.

We thank God for every mother and every woman who carries a mother’s heart. May the Lord bless you, strengthen you, and reward the seeds of love and faith you have sown. AMEN.
