TRIUMPHAL ENTRY!

MARCH

“And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.”

(Mat 21:9 KJV)

It became the talk of the town. Seeing the incredible crowd, the curious, wanting to unravel the reason behind the unfamiliar scene asked, “What the heck is going on here?” And they got the firm response: ‘This is Jesus. He comes from Nazareth in Galilee. He is the prophet that God promised to send.’

But the story did not start there. Jesus earlier told two of His disciples to go to the nearby village where a donkey was tied and a colt with it. They were to untie them and bring them to Jesus. The disciples followed the instructions deftly and were able to bring the donkey and the colt. Jesus instructed that they bring animals, though, what He intended to do with them was not mentioned. But in verse 7, the Bible reveals that they brought the donkey, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. (Mat 21:7)

Their initiative eventually inspired “a very great multitude.” Most people spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowd went wild for joy, going ahead and following Him, shouting: “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!” (Mat 21:8-9)

What is the spine of the story?

Jesus gave an instruction to a people. They obeyed but took further steps. They set JESUS on the donkey. They brought whatever they had in honour of King Jesus! They continued to hail Him relentlessly.

Beloved, on a special day as this, I admonish you to aspire to stand out in obedience to Him and continue to make a loud proclamation to inspire others to join you and come with whatever they have in honour of KING JESUS! For, it is the moment of TRIUMPHAL ENTRY! Shalom.
